Halloween is less than a week away. I find myself thankful for our school district that has had the foresight to give the days following Halloween off for the kids (parent conferences). Good thinking. We will do another chili feed this year, following an early set-off for trick or treating. I think I will plan a kids' Halloween party next year when Halloween actually lands on a Friday and the Schillings can join us. This year, I won't try to be Martha Stewart to any grand degree...... So, on to the Halloween related questions-
1. What are your plans for Halloween and if you have kids, what are they dressing up as if they are dressing up?
2. What was your favorite Halloween costume?

1. Already described the activities, kids this year will be: the Christmas version of Belle (red cape) and a boxer (however, I think he wants to honor Daddy's former sports pursuits and be called a wrestler). The Belle costume was purchased from the online Disney store last November at 75% off. I felt pretty good about myself......
2. I will be interested in what Michele writes on this one. Of course, I can't remember a lot of them, but I think we looked the cutest in pictures in our little cowgirl costumes. I should try to get mom to bring a copy and post it........
1. Not sure yet. If it's raining, we'll be at Calvary's Harvest Festival at the fairgrounds...if not, we'll be out hitting a couple neighborhoods. Isabel will be a pink kitty (one-piece outfit from Target) and Rachel will be Supergirl. Tyler hasn't decided so he may end up wearing an old soccer uniform, at this rate.
2. I never liked dressing up for Halloween. Too self conscious and didn't like sweating behind those masks. I begged to stay home and hand out candy!
1. My answer to #1 can be summed up by what I said last week: "Halloween? What? When? Next week? Oh no."
There is a church down the street with a sign out front that says they are having a harvest festival. We'll probably be there. I have a cute idea for Car (she has to dress up as a community helper at school...it's been hard explaining why a Fairy is NOT a community helper) and Ash will be the same as he was last year. I usually have them be the same thing year after year. Lame mama.
2. Gosh...can't recall. I think Raggedy Ann.
1. Go to the Riley's and have Chili and then go home and spend time with Bogey. Travis will be in Vegas, so it's just me and the dog! Being a beagle, we wanted to dress Bogey up as Under Dog, but haven't been able to locate a costume. Maybe next year.
2. Funny.... I don't remember that many of my costumes when I was younger. The one I do remember was when I dressed up as Madonna; gosh I loved her when I was younger!
1. We are having a halloween party for 11 2-3 year olds, 2 one-year olds, 2-six month olds, and 1 infant. WOW! Yes, their moms will be here too. Caleb is going to be a dinosaur and Tana a princess. I think the princess costume is a hand me down from you or Michele.
2. Either a flapper girl or a genie. I liked them both.

1. Since Dallas School District does plan school for the days following Halloween, (and I'm no longer home-schooling) we are not heading down to Eugene as in some of the years past (something to look forward to next year though!). Instead, I think we will play it very traditional... we'll hope the weather cooperates and trick-or-treat in the neighborhood of our soon-to-be new home until we're too tuckered out to go on. There are many houses next to one another in the subdivision, and it seems to be a perfect way to get to know some of the neighbors! Traig will be a hunter (not a big stretch, and I'm hoping his daddy will assist in completing the outfit), Nati will be a Barbie pet-doctor (perfect for her - and finally something different than a princess!), and Ellie will be Jasmine...
2. When I was near Nati's age, before store bought costumes were the norm, Mom and Dad both went out of their way to make me feel like the most special princess ever. Mom and I picked out a yellow fancy dress from Goodwill and a long costume necklace. Mom then altered the dress for me (a considerable feat since she was never really into sewing) and Dad welded the necklace into a tiarra. I remember feeling so very pretty that evening while we attended the Mohawk Elementary Carnival - and getting so many compliments on my beautiful costume. Bless you Mom and Dad - every little girl should have a few memories such as these! :)
