A Couple of Questions LXVIII

And the theme for this week- MOTHERS.... can't imagine why-

On a quick funny note, I was amidst the gals yesterday doing some yard work when the topic of me going to bed early the night before came up - I had been worked on by my mom and since it had been a long time since she'd done her massage therapy on me, it had loosened up some "locked in" places, and caused a doozy of a headache Tuesday night. As expected, I awoke on Wednesday feeling great, sometimes that just happens. However, one of the gals doesn't know me very well, or my mom so this is what she heard-

"Yeah, Nancy, I often get a headache so bad I have to go to bed after seeing my mom"

Shannon, (the newer gal) looked at me, looked at them and laughed, thinking my relationship with my mom must be horrendous to cause such side-effects. I quickly clarified, but it really amused me, as my relationship with my mom is quite the opposite.......

OK, on to questions:

1. What are your Mother's Day plans?

2. Do you recall a favorite Mother's Day - or gift - either given or received?

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

1. I'll be teaching Sunday School, then going to a yummy restaurant that normally isn't open on Sundays but is for this special Sunday.
2. My first Mother's Day I got a set of golf clubs. Now, since being a Mom, to just get time to use them.....
Pete is really good with Mother's Day gifts. And now the girls are at an age that they are really getting into it and want me to feel special.
Happy Mother's Day, Mommies!

1. We'll have Michele's kids, so I guess we'll just go with the flow - if it's warm enough, we'll go the pool as it's opening weekend. At 5:30ish - we'll meet up with Mom and Dad and Michael and Michele at Roaring Rapids Pizza and hang out there.

2. I can't really remember spoiling my mom with special activities or gifts (Michele, do you remember anything?) - but I do remember one weekend a couple of years ago when the Schillings were down with us - John got up, told Michele to join me in our bedroom - we cozied up reading books and the newspaper - and then the guys and kids presented us with breakfast in bed, on two trays, with wonderful spa gift certificates. Since I'm not always comfortable being the center of "recipient" attention - it was awesome to share the experience with Michele-

1. Church then I will spend the afternoon alone, probably hit a matinee and a coffee shop.
2. Every year since having kids I've received breakfast in bed. It's fun to listen to them create it in the kitchen and then see their faces when they bring it to me. I remember many times Aaron thanking me for staying in bed and waiting as it had taken so long. Pretty cute.

1. I'll be shipping off the kids to their dads and even skipping church to just BE AT HOME. Something I seem to really need. I just ruined my mom's day by accidentally replying to a message I meant to forward to a friend with some snide remarks about my mom. I've been hurt for years that she doesn't seem to want to be closer to me and to her grandkids, physically or emotionally. I'm hoping my totally stupid error will lead to a discussion and some healing, but it's doubtful. I don't think I've ever heard my mom say she's sorry...so I guess this is a Mother's Day about confronting those not so perfect mother-daughter relationships.

2. I LOVE all the little handmade cards and pictures, plastering them at work and home...I hope they still make me cards when they're grownups.
