A Couple of Questions L

What is it with both of my kids and treadmills? Brayden has a beauty of a scar commerating Sept. 11th (yes, it occured on THAT 9-11) from where he skinned his ankle to the actual bone (sorry, TMI!) and Mikayla hurt her finger in a similar way today (not nearly as bad, but certainly worthy to be hidden by a band-aid....). I thought our kiddos were warned sufficiently, we're now back to off-limits......

Anyway, here's the questions.....

1. What area in your house (not your life, I'll keep this one more specific) most needs organization?

2. What is a common New Year's Resolution that would NOT be a problem for you to keep?

1. Good grief, what doesn't need organized in my house? I suppose I'd say the kitchen, closely followed by hall closet, kids' closets, our bedroom, the garage....

2. Take more time to enjoy life......

1. My kid's rooms. We have the typical american, post Christmas problem....where to put everything. I had these visions of my kids being so creative with the art easel. Now, it is in the kitchen....looking for a home.
I guess "letting it go"- things that happened in 2006.

My word for 2007 is Organization! So that goes for alllll of my house! My list is pretty much right there with yours, Steph. I need all the helpful hints that I can get if anyone has some.
2. Quit Smoking

1. The laundry room/garage - the old rags, paint cans, cleaning supplies, space heaters, and tupperware overflow are making me crazy. I can't turn around without bumping or knocking over something. The dog also sleeps in there which adds a degree of difficulty and that lovely "doggy smell" from her blanket....

2. Organizing (OK, so hate me). In general I'm not overly *clean* but I am very organized. My best advice is: (1) always have a Goodwill pile going. Put things there, let them simmer for a month or two, and if you or the kids haven't pulled them out by then, take a deep breath, box them up, and donate them ASAP; (2) storage, storage, storage. Plastic tubs for clothing, boxes under the beds, furniture and decorations with storage built in; (3) be less sentimental and more practical. My mom inherited so much when her mother died, and this was a hard one for her. Keep a few choice things that really have meaning and let the rest go.

That said, I have a problem with being overzealous, especially getting rid of the kids' toys and then two years later I buy the exact same thing. Oops! I also tend to start wanting to put my whole house on the sidewalk when I get stressed...but in order for a house to feel homey it can't have bare walls, even if it does help me relax. :)

1. Right now, the front room (which actually means the den and Kay-Kay's room). Carpet finally gets installed tomorrow in the three bedrooms (third time's a charm) and I can finally take back my front room, which has been overtaken by the den and spare room for the past two plus months. It will feel so good to get things put back into the rooms for good. Our garage really needs a 'once-over' (Travis' job though). Other than that, since we only moved in a year and a half ago, things are pretty organized still.

2. Spending a little more time with my husband, doing things that are fun and not just sitting in front of the TV, me reading a magazine or a book and him cruising the internet.

Happy Thursday!

1. I always seem to create a pile next to the phone in the kitchen. It doesn't matter what house we live in, how organized I am, whatever, there is ALWAYS a pile by the phone. I am beginning to think perhaps this in itself is organization? I can only hope.
2. Slowing down. I think I've got that one covered.

What?? Someone reads my blog? I never knew! It's so random and weird...I'll check how I have the settings and make sure it's accessible to those who enjoy following my mood swings. :)
