A Couple of Questions XVIII

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. We're heading out of town, where there is no internet access, so it might be a while before I post again.

1. I'll try again - What was your best find at a garage sale? (Leona - I know you have plenty to offer here!)

2. Question, courtesy of Mikayla asking me this the other day after watching "Barbie's the Princess and the Pauper" - What was your favorite wedding present?

I did answer this one earlier with the Henredon chair, but I am actually still looking for the perfect find such as the bed that justme said, or the Tupperware that Christy got, or the Longaberger that Nancy snagged. Persistence and patience are not virtues of mine, and they are needed to be a good yardsaler.

1. I'm not a huge garage sale shopper, but I got some practically brand new Old Navy Jeans at the basement sale for fifty cents this year.
2. Nothing really stands out except these hideously ugly serving spoons we received with turkeys and other holiday related carvins on the stem. We love to hate them. They must be a part of our holiday functions.

1. I think the bean bags were probably our best score as previously mentioned - my mother-in-law probably has oodles of good stories.

2. The denim quilt that my sister and her mother-in-law put together using patches of jeans we used to wear was our best gift. She even had it, as well as a whole "romance" gift basket sent to the cabin we stayed in, in Colorado, for our honeymoon - so it was there waiting for us when we arrived.

oh my gosh!!! You stayed in a cabin on your honeymoon??? How absolutely romantically cozy. You have always been cozy? Soooo awesome. And the denim quilt thing....super! I am putting that in my journal as something to do for my girls. Awesome, Michelle and Stephanie.

Yeah, our honeymoon was everything we ever dreamed for - thanks Hollie!

One idea that I am thinking about doing is saving all of the kids' activity t-shirts - from sports, camps, schools, etc. and using those as quilt blocks to create a quilt for them when they graduate..... I saw it done in a magazine and thought, "how cool is that!". It gives me something to do with those t-shirts.....

From my mother-in-law, Leona, via email:

Yes, I do have a "best garage sale find"!!! I bought a candy jar that had lollypops around the side and the lid had a head with a smile and if you turn it over it has a head with a frown. The smiley side says, "Yes, today you're an angel" and the frown side says, "No, today you're a Devil". I paid $15 for it and found out that the value of it is from $325-$350. I sure was shocked to find this out!!!
