A Couple of Questions XVII

1. What are some seasonal foods that you are particularly looking forward to enjoying again this summer?

2. If you walked into a "well-stocked" pet store and had to buy an animal before you left - what would you pick? (that's random, I know...)

I went outside this morning to water my hanging basket - and there is this summer, hot weather smell - aahhh..... I know we're not there yet, it's still May, but it's a beautiful thing!

1. Corn on the cob, strawberry torte (Michele, could you make that happen?), teriyaki bbq chicken, baked beans....

2. I think, at this point, a guinea pig. I'm pretty enchanted by the one that Amy got.

Wow, who is your friend Mandy Ingals? Did she not read the questions?? haha
anyways.....
1. anything bbq, anything strawberry (would love the torte recipe) anything camping food, salads, fresh produce, sandwiches, ice cold beer
2. A dog that is trained, great with kids, won't shed and looks like a chocolate lab

1. We just celebrated the start of summer (or what feels like summer) with our snow cone machine (a birthday gift to the kids a few years ago). My favorite was the sour lemon snow cone - definitely a summer novelty. I also love the obvious as well - corn-on-the-cob, bbq, and strawberry anything.
2. Since we will probably be getting a teddy bear hamster for our Nati this fall, this is a timely question. While at the pet store, I admired the friendly, playful ferrets. I understand that there are a lot of drawbacks to these rascals as pets, but if I could live in Hollie's dream world, (with a perfectly trained animal) I think the ferret would be alot of fun.

1. Strawberries, berries in general. Jaylene's mom makes an AMAZING Strawberry Pie. Potato salad. Tomatoes and all the other fresh vegies...zucchini, squash, peppers, etc.
2. Gosh, I'm pretty happy with my dog and kitty. If I was forced to, I get another baby dachshund.

1. baked beans, fresh green beans, corn on the cob, strawberry shortcake, fresh tomatoes, blackberry (freshly picked) cobbler, bbq steak, and popsicles!!!
2. A long haired guinea pig. They seem like a really sweet pet.

aaahhhh popsicles! Hello, Mrs. Quigs!
And literary girl, does Jaylene share that recipe for the strawberry pie? And Chele, sour lemon sno-cones? did you just get the syrup at the store....sounds intriguing and addicting!

Hollie-
I can get you the strawberry torte recipe sometime soon - if I recall, it's a bit long, so I'll probably email it to you.
Both the snow cone machine and the syrups all come from the local lovely Walmart (including too the cute little snow cone cups and the fancy straws with the "scoop" at the end). I don't want to overglorify the experience (it's not Hawaiian shaved ice...) but the syrups are good and are available in a rather large number of flavors... :) (grape, cherry, blue raspberry and sour varieties as well...)

Thanks, Michelle for the recipe....if it is way long-no hurry. I just love tried and true recipes.
