"Christmas in Heaven"

Last night on the drive up to Michael and Michele's I introduced John to Scotty McCreery's new Christmas album.   I'd only listened to it once before, but was extremely moved by his original track (Written by Sarah Schieber) "Christmas in Heaven".

John and I were teary-eyed listening to the song, as we thought about a friend of ours, Kambiz Mirsepassi, diagnosed with brain cancer mere weeks ago.  On Thursday, the update was that his time on earth would be very short - the hope was that his family would all have time to gather to be with him, and then his passing would be quick - as his quality of life was very poor and his desire to be with Jesus was profound.

Our discussion as a Bible Study (with many of us knowing him or his family) was how devastating the loss will be for everyone here is going to be as he is such an extraordinarily loving, friendly, influential, and generous-in-spirit man - but, how much more to be his family.  The sadness Kambiz feels in knowing their grief and loss, but his enormous excitement in knowing he'll be meeting His Savior so soon.

Needless to say the words to this song (sung by Scotty with the recent loss of his grandfather in mind) were extra meaningful last night:

"Christmas in Heaven"

December hasn't changed
This town looks the same
They still light their tree in the city square
There's red, white, and green shining everywhere
And I wish you were here
And I wonder......

Is there snow falling down on the streets of gold

Are the mansions all covered in white
Are you singing with angels silent night
I wonder..... what Christmas in Heaven is like

There's a little manger scene

Down on Third and Main
I must've walked right by it a thousand times
But I see it now in a different light
'Cause I know you are there

And I wonder......

Are you kneeling with shepherds before him now
Can you reach out and touch his face
Are you part of that glorious holy night
I wonder..... What Christmas in Heaven is like

Is there snow falling down on the streets of gold

Are the mansions all covered in white
Are you singing with angels silent night
Oh I wonder.... What Christmas in Heaven is like

This morning, Kaela texted me to tell me that Kambiz had passed away last night.   My heart aches for this world's loss - so much for his family.   But, I rejoice that he's in paradise - face to face with His King.

First Steph, I am sorry for your loss and will be praying for his family. But as I read this song, my eyes filled with tears....I have a good friend who is soon to be with Jesus. I am going to have to go to itunes and look this up so I can hear it. Thanks.

What a lovely poem, do you mind if I share with my father, I lost my mom a year ago August and we are still having a hard time with the holidays. Christmas was her favorite holiday and brought us so much cheer and joy, she was like a child Christmas Eve.
