I'm pleased to announce that I planted bulbs this morning. Last January I lamented over not getting around to it. So, after much procrastination, many bulbs are now underground. I don't think I did a good job of putting them there, but hopefully they are strong little bulbs and will reach the surface when my heart needs to see them the most!
I know these questions have been asked in various forms already, but in light of Colie's request for Christmas album favorites, I thought I'd revisit them.
1. What Christmas albums do you "highly recommend"?
2. What is a holiday tradition that you do that you hope to repeat again and again because it is just so FUN?

ReplyDeleteThat deleted comment was mine - flubbed it up good and couldn't be back and rewrite the sentence that made no sense at all.....
ReplyDelete1. Albums by these artists:
Michael W. Smith
Amy Grant
Point of Grace
Phillips, Craig, and Dean
Avalon
Steven Curtis Chapman
American Idol (2003)
Jim Brickman (his new one is BEAUTIFUL, so tranquil in that it is predominately just piano and not vocals)
2. We've gone bowling with the 5 couples that we've been in a Bible Study with for the last couple of years at the beginning of December - it is such a hoot to help and watch the kids, and kind of marks the kick off of such a favorite time of year for me. (Of course, the week at Sunriver is HUGE too....)
You know me, I can't really start thinking Christmas until after November or I want to toss the whole thing in the trash by December 5th. So, I don't have any albums to recommend. I listen to a bunch of different ones, and many of them were free gifts with purchase or buy for $2.99 type things. As far as things we do, they might be slightly different this year. I usually have a baking day. We do the Advent Wreath and devotional. I think the rest were all related to where we lived, so we'll have to find new things this year! Yeah!

ReplyDelete1. I really don't have a Christmas album that I listen to.
ReplyDelete2. The week in Sunriver tops my list of favorites during Christmas. Bowling is always fun, however, Travis and I have to bow out this year because we will be spending that day and night in Portland at the Hotel Vintage Plaza in our Garden Spa Suite.
1. A Very Special Christmas I, II, III, IV, V
ReplyDeleteBoth of Harry Connick Jr's Christmas cds
2. We just passed in one tradition and that was the Operation Christmas Child boxes
Making Cookies, Going to the Festival of Trees, drinking egg nog lattes, watching Christmas movies like Elf, The Santa Claus 1&2, and All I Want For Christmas
Nicole C. Mullen "Christmas in Black and White"
ReplyDeleteAvalon "Joy"
Steven Curtis Chapman "All I really Want for christmas
And of course Bing Crosby
For instrumental I like Michael Allen Harrison, Kenny G and Mannheim Steamroller
thanks Steph! Question - What Amy Grant do you like? I have one and do not love it but have heard songs I do like from Chele's collection. Thanks!
Sorry - I forgot to answer Q2!
ReplyDeleteEverything! Cookie Day with my family / Christmas Morning Presents from Santa (yes - still from Santa) / Decorating the house (the after effect is better than the during effect) / Watching all the Christmas movies over and over / Etc.
I LOVE Christmas!
Colie,
ReplyDeleteThe first two Amy Grant albums are by far better than the third. Don't know the names now, the first one has Tender Tennessee Christmas, and the second has her in a red sweater next to a birch kind of tree (she's pregnant) on the cover. The last one was created following her divorce and just came off as "hollow".
