Advent - yes - we started a little this year but Caleb will be much more into it next year. I have some fun plans!Coliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00377070496504862468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15605159.post-38886101613053675012007-12-27T12:50:00.000-08:002007-12-27T12:50:00.000-08:001. Most of all though, the most memorable moments of Christmas 2007 has got to be spending time with my new niece, Abby. She is almost 3 months old and absolutely adorable and wonderful.

2. We really don't have a real tradition on Christmas, as we try and spend time with all three of our families (four if you count the Alexanders, Rileys, and Schillings.)

Steph, when you get a chance, could you please email me the picture of Bogey asleep on your couch? Thanks, and I love you guys.Stephietoohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15462001124026576240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15605159.post-41313725846509317302007-12-27T10:14:00.000-08:002007-12-27T10:14:00.000-08:00Literarygirl, your comment reminded me of the fami...Literarygirl, your comment reminded me of the family in "The Christmas Story" going to the Chinese restaurant...did you make the servers sing "Deck the Halls"?

1. My highlight was that, for the first time in a few years, I really enjoyed myself on Christmas Day! I'm composing the post in my head, for my blog. I also really liked lighting the Menorah and watching the kids play the dreidel game. The amount of gifts I gave seemed just right, without completely breaking the bank.

2. Every year I really want to go to church on Christmas Eve but since that's also my family's get together, I never go. I'd like to learn more about Advent and the Christian symbolism behind a lot of our traditions. I'd also like to do some sort of family service project. This year we're going to adopt a child through World Vision but I'd like to do something locally where we can look people in the eye and really teach the kids how good they have it.

Did you see Oprah the other day where she was in Africa handing out gifts? I was crying, just wishing I could have my kids watch that show and realize there are kids in the world who scream in delight over getting new clothing and a doll and hot dog to eat!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15605159.post-89925917972238841222007-12-27T09:08:00.000-08:002007-12-27T09:08:00.000-08:001. Ending up eating dinner Christmas night at a Chinese buffet because we were hungry and it was the only thing open and we had no food at home.
2. Plan meals better for Christmas day.

Ok, joking a tad, but not really. This is all true, but not as pathetic as it sounds since we all got a good laugh out of it.

Our day was...interesting to say the least. I took a nap from 1-5pm. That was lovely.

I think next year we will stay at home...we struggled knowing it snowed all day back in the desert. Oh well.LiteraryGirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04998481996493899769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15605159.post-34369968368084096052007-12-26T20:22:00.000-08:002007-12-26T20:22:00.000-08:001. Ichatting with my sister, her family and my parents, all in Maine, then my sister in California. Emma opening a Wii game then saying "what? what? are we getting a Wii???" then looking for the gift. Molly opening her camera and telling my sister on Ichat to get the whole family together so she could take their family picture. I could go on. It was a great day.
2. We are going to be in Maine. I really miss my family at Christmastime. The first Christmas music tears on Halloween, the snow falling in Sunriver, present opening beaming smiles, Christmas meal prayers, pretty much all the stuff that I've already blogged about.....

2. I've got quite a list going - no "at our house" birthday parties for Mikayla prior to Christmas, more of an Advent focus for next yearStephieAnnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17543298283557610542noreply@blogger.com
